Sunday, 15th September. Long Walk. Thurlestone. Medium. 6 miles.

The walk starts from Court Park, a residential road on the outskirts of the village. We will walk inland first on good quality, undulating paths and tracks to Southdown Farm. Despite being inland, there are often good views out to sea and towards Hope Cove.  We then follow a short section of road to South Milton Sands. Here there is an excellent, if somewhat pricey, café as well as some National Trust benches. This will be a good spot for a coffee/tea break so don’t forget to bring your own, or buy from the café.

Our onward route will be on the Coast Path and will take us past Thurlestone Sands and the lovely Leas Foot Sands before ascending to cliffs with the golf course on our right. We then arrive at our lunch stop, Yarmer Sands, so we recommend that you bring a packed lunch. This is a large and an often quiet and relaxed beach. Depending on the weather there may be an opportunity for a quick swim here.

Then it’s back onto the Coast Path for a short distance before making our way back to the start point along the golf course perimeter and over open fields.
